Powertek Energy Sdn Bhd ("Powertek Energy") [formerly known as Tanjong Energy Holdings Sdn Bhd (or "Tanjong Energy")] became a subsidiary of Powertek Investment Holdings Sdn Bhd (formerly known as 1MDB Energy Sdn Bhd) on 22 May 2012 following the successful acquisition of Powertek Energy from Tanjong Public Limited Company. Powertek Investment Holdings Sdn Bhd in turn is wholly owned by 1Malaysia Development Berhad, a government-owned strategic development company.
