Biography

With 32 years of being in the oil and gas industry, Datuk Farid has extensive knowledge and experience in the management and transformation of organisations. He has a strong track record of creating shareholder value through integration of businesses and organisational turnaround, operation optimisation, process simplification, and growth into new markets.

Datuk Farid gained most of his professional experience within the PETRONAS group; serving in various capacities across the business. He was also previously attached to Conoco in Texas, USA and to Engen in South Africa. In 2010, he was appointed Vice President of Oil Business and worked to successfully consolidate and simplify the Enterprise Optimisation function to provide clear and transparent value generation.

In 2015, Datuk Farid was appointed Managing Director and CEO of Engen Limited in South Africa. Here, he led the Full Potential Project to transform the organisation to create operational simplicity, empower the workforce, and ensure competitive advantage to compete amidst an uncertain business landscape and government policies in South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa. Engen achieved the highest ever profitability and operation performance for 2 consecutive years.
