Hew Yoon Leong was appointed as a Member to the Board of Directors for Prasarana on 12 April 2019.

Biography

He graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in 1981. He is also a holder of a Masters in Business Administration (Finance) from University of Technology, Sydney in 1989.

Currently, he is serving as the Principal at Pintar Jurutera Perunding (Civil and Structural Engineering Consultant). He carries out Road Safety Audit which covers JKR road projects, privatized highways under MHA, urban roads under various city councils in Malaysia. He is also in-charge of Road and Highway Engineering Design, Privatisation Project Proposals, Infrastructure and Structural Design and Independent Structural Checks. He is keen on Transportation projects and has worked on solving traffic issues in various urban centres including Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Penang.

Prior to that, he worked at Chase Manhattan Bank, Australia as a credit analyst based in Sydney from 1989 to 1992. He analysed financial creditworthiness of government bodies, corporations and banks. He also worked as a Technical Consultant at ACSI Pty Ltd, Sydney, Australia from 1986 until 1989. He was seconded to the Department of Main Roads, New South Wales, Australia, where he was assigned to develop software for highway design package, MOSS, general civil engineering design and management duties. In 1981 until 1986 he worked with Jurutera Konsultant (SEA) Sdn Bhd as a Civil and Structural Engineer.

He is active with association works. He is a Fellow at Institution of Engineers Malaysia (FIEM) and a Professional Engineer, Malaysia (P.Eng). He had served as Council Member/ Committee Member at Road Engineering Association of Malaysia (REAM), Association of Consulting Engineers, Malaysia (ACEM), Chartered Institution of Highway and Transportation (Malaysian Branch) (CIHTMB). He had also served at Parent Teacher Associations as Chairman/ Committee member at different times with SRJK Kuen Cheng and SMK Katholic High.
