Royal businesses - who is Daing A Malek?
Over the last four days, Malaysiakini has looked at three major reclamation projects in southern Johor with a combined area that will be almost the size of Putrajaya. These are the Benalec Holdings reclamation sites in Pengarang and Tanjung Piai for petroleum facilities and a maritime industrial park respectively, and Country Garden's reclamation off Tanjung Kupang for Forest City. The Johor royal family has stakes in all these projects, be it Johor Sultan Ibrahim Ismail or the state's crown prince Tunku Ismail Idris. However, the name of Daing A Malek Daing A Rahaman had repeatedly appeared as either director or shareholder in companies where the Johor royal family has interest.
