Biography
A graduate of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in Science, Azhar started his career as an Assistant Secretary with the Ministry of Energy, Telecommunications and Posts in 1988. In 1992, he served as the Assistant Director of the Immigration Department in Kota Kinabalu and later in 1994, he was appointed as an Assistant Finance Officer in the Federal Treasury, Sabah.
He was transferred to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment as Assistant Secretary (Environmental Conservation and Management Division) in 1997 before being promoted to Principal Assistant Director in 2000.
He continued to work with the same Ministry as Assistant Major Director until 2005 before being promoted to Grade M52 and M54 in 2006 and 2008. In 2009, he was promoted to Jusa C and Jusa B in 2015 until his present position.
