Biography
Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Abdul Shukor Husin was born in Jerantut, Pahang. He is currently the Chairman of Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM) and Chairman of the Fatwa Committee of the National Council for Islamic Affairs Malaysia (MKI).
He also serves as Deputy Chairman of World Fiqh Academy (RABITAH) and is a member of several national and international committees i.e. National Council For Islamic Affair Malaysia, Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM), Pahang State Fatwa Committee, Malaysian Halal Certification Advisory Board (JAKIM), Islamic Religious Council and Pahang Malay Customs as well as the Consultative Council of Islamic Da’wah (MPI). He was the Vice Chancellor of USIM from 1999 to 2009, as well as Dean for the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) for six years. He received an Honorary Doctorate from the UKM in 2010. He was also awarded the national-level Tokoh Ma’al Hijrah award for the year 2011.
